PR-10000

Phosphate Remover Concentrate

  • Designed to react with the phosphates in the water
  • Makes the inert phosphates sink out of solution to be vacuumed or filtered out
  • Could cause temporary cloudiness in the water, but it is not permanent

If you are having problems with phosphates this is the product for you! Orenda PR-10,000 is a highly concentrated phosphate remover. It is formulated to react with phosphates in the water, allowing them to be removed from the solution. It reacts and kills all known types of phosphates on contact and hardens them into a fine precipitate, which falls out of the solution. The phosphates will then clump up and can easily be vacuumed or filtered out of the pool. PR-10,000 causes cloudiness, which can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Use as needed, and do not exceed the recommended dosage unless otherwise specified.

Because of PR-10,000's concentration, a little goes a long way. A dose of PR-10,000 may be surprisingly small to you, but watch it work!! PR-10,000 is one of the original Orenda Products and is professional grade.

Why Remove Phosphates?

Unlike most other contaminants in water, chlorine cannot remove phosphates, because they do not interact with each other directly...so to reduce phosphate levels, you will need a phosphate remover.

Directions

We recommend not exceeding 8 fl.oz./10,000 gallons for a normal treatment unless otherwise specified. This is recommended because of the impact on filter pressure. When phosphates are removed, there is a fine precipitate that falls out of the solution. Too much precipitate at one time can cause high pressure in filters.

TIP: Try using PR-10,000 in a commercial spray bottle, and broadcast it across the surface of the pool. The cloudiness is less severe, and you still remove the same amount of phosphates each treatment. Consider following it up with CE-Clarifier, also used in a spray bottle, to help filter out precipitate faster.

For green pools, follow our Green Pool Cleanup procedure.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • How is this different than other Phosphate removers? Example PhosFree

Orenda Phosphate remover is concentrated so you will not have to use it as much. You will also know that it works better than any other phosphate remover on the market.

  • Why does PR-10,000 cloud the water?

PR-10,000 reacts with phosphates on contact. That reaction creates a white precipitate that comes out of the solution, hence the clouding. Eventually, the precipitation is filtered out or needs to be vacuumed off the floor. If PR-10,000 does not cloud your water, your phosphate level is very low....so you're doing a great job!

  • What if I need to use more than 8 fl.oz. (236.5 mL) per 10,000 gallons (37,854 L)?

Phosphate removal does not need to be rushed.  It's usually better to add incremental doses of PR-10,000 and allow your filter time to capture the precipitation. But if you are in a rush, you can simply clean/backwash the filter after your first dose, and add more immediately after that.

  • Why does Orenda recommend not exceeding 8 fl.oz./10,000 gal of PR-10,000 in a single dose?

Sure, you could use more, but the concern is filter pressure. Too much precipitation can cause too much pressure in your filter and could crush DE grids, cartridges, or over-pressurize a sand filter. If you are going to add more than our recommended maximum, we recommend you shut off circulation overnight, allowing the precipitate to fall to the floor for vacuuming the next day. An exception to this is our Green Pool Cleanup procedure.
