Algae Shield - 32 Ounce

$39.99 $34.99

Algae Shield and algae can't coexist. The special algicide formula of Algae Shield disperses evenly so every ounce of your water is protected against algae. This algaecide gets added to your pool water once a month and you will not need to worry about black algae or any algae in your pool or spa any longer. Most algae products on the market are made for use after an outbreak of algae occurs. Algae Shield actually prevents ugly green or black algae water.

Algae Shield is intended for use in swimming pools treated with chlorine, bromine or salt chlorination.

Product Dosage

Algae Shield is added to your pool once every 30 days.

For Pools:

  • 1 ounce per 1,000 gallons of water, once a month.
  • To treat existing algae bloom add Algae Shield at a rate of 2 ounces per 1,000 gallons of water, run filter for 48 hours and then add a standard chlorine shock to oxidize any dead algae.

For Spas or Hot Tubs:

  • Do not use in hot tubs or spas

  • Do not exceed the recommended dosage rate.
  • Do not use Algae Shield in pools treated with Baquacil, SoftSwim or other biguanide products. Algae Shield should not be used in conjunction with other algae treatments, flocculants, or metal-out products.
  • Store above 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

      Ask a Question
      • does the product get rid of stains out of pools

AlgaeShield is in the Performance Chemistries line and is use for treating and preventing algae. If you have a mineral stain you can use another product in our Performance Chemistries called MetalShield. However if your staining is organic you will need to use chlorine to treat the stain. To determine the stain type please do a sock test, always test mineral first.

        Sock Test:

        1. Place a small amount (1/2 cup to 1 cup) of pH decreaser in an old sock and tie it to form a small pouch.
        2. Place the sock on the stain for 3 or 4 minutes, using an extension pole to hold the sock in place, remove and discard.

If the stain has lightened or changed color where the sock was placed, the stain is mineral in nature.

If there is no change to the stain, make a similar pouch with a different old sock and 1/2 cup to 1 cup of PristineExtra. Repeat step 2.

If the stain lightens or changes color, the stain is organic.

      • How do I know if I have Algae in my pool?

Your pool water becomes discolored when you have algae in it.  There are several different types of algae that can affect your water so you may notice your water turning green, yellow or even have a black tint to it.  You will notice algae around areas such as your stairs or in corners of the pool.

      • Can Algae Shield be used in Spas?

We do not recommend you use Algae Shield in your spa.

      • How do I know if my pool is compatible with Algae Shield?

Chlorine, bromine and salt systems. Not compatible with biguanide systems.

It is compatible with sand, cartridge and D.E. filters.

It is compatible with all surface types.

      • How often do I add Algae Shield? How long will the 32 ounce bottle last me?

Apply AlgaeShield at a dose of 1 ounce per 1,000 gallons of pool water, every 30 days. Do not add AlgaeShield more than once per month and do not exceed this recommended dosage rate, except to treat an existing algae bloom. If you figure out how big your pool is you can figure out how long a bottle will last you.

      • How is Algae Shield different from other Algae products?

Unlike other Algae products Algae Shield rapidly disperses so that it doesnt end up sitting on the bottom of your pool. This is PROVEN! It doesnt require any pre-mixing. It doesnt stain or foam. It's highly effective and is very easy to use and requires low dosage compared to other Algae Products. You will be Algae FREE Guaranteed!

      • What do I need Algae Shield for? Can I use it with the product line I am currently using?

AlgaeShield is used for treatment and prevention of algae.  It kills existing algae (Green algae, Blue-green algae, Mustard and Black algae) and defends your pool against algae for up to 30 days. You add it once a month. It is compatible with chlorine, bromine, ozone, ultraviolet and salt systems.

      • Where is this product added? In the skimmer, in the deep end, walking around or?

You should add Algae Shield directly into the pool water and always with the pump one. We recommend you walk around the pool adding small amounts as you go!

      • Do I shock before or after using Algae Shield?

You can shock before or after you use Algae Shield, it doesn’t matter!

      • How long after application of Algae Shield can we get in the pool?

You can go in your pool right after adding Algae Shield, just make sure your chlorine level is under 3ppm.
